Con suavidad, separa los pliegues de la piel (labios) alrededor de la vagina y coloca la punta del tamp\u00f3n dentro del orificio vaginal. Empuja suavemente<\/strong> el tamp\u00f3n higi\u00e9nico hacia el interior de la vagina (hacia arriba y ligeramente hacia atr\u00e1s), cuid\u00e1ndote de mantener siempre el cord\u00f3n de extracci\u00f3n por fuera. Puede que inicialmente sientas un poco de resistencia, eso es normal. Contin\u00faa intent\u00e1ndolo<\/strong>.
El tamp\u00f3n debe insertarse hasta que no lo sientas<\/strong>, eso significa que est\u00e1 bien colocado. Los tampones higi\u00e9nicos tienen una capa que los recubre que hace que se deslice con suavidad tanto en la colocaci\u00f3n como durante la extracci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Para retirar el tamp\u00f3n higi\u00e9nico, con las manos bien lavadas, busca nuevamente la posici\u00f3n en la que te sientas m\u00e1s c\u00f3moda. Tira del cord\u00f3n hacia abajo<\/strong> con suavidad y firmeza. Si sientes resistencia, no te preocupes, eso es
normal, el cord\u00f3n de extracci\u00f3n no se soltar\u00e1.<\/p>\n

El S\u00edndrome de Shock T\u00f3xico (SST) es una infecci\u00f3n grave pero poco com\u00fan. El SST es ocasionado por toxinas producidas por la bacteria Staphylococcus Aureus que se encuentra com\u00fanmente en la piel, nariz y vagina.<\/p>\n

EI SST puede presentarse en hombres, mujeres y ni\u00f1os. En Estados Unidos, donde el 65-75% de las mujeres usan absorbentes internos, los centros de control de enfermedades reportan una incidencia anual del 0,0005%, (Aprox. solo 5 mujeres por cada mill\u00f3n de ellas) donde menos de la mitad ocurre en mujeres menstruantes que usan absorbentes internos (tampones).<\/p>\n

Aunque el SST es muy raro, es mejor que conozcas sobre esto para actuar bien en caso de que creas en un momento dado que lo puedes llegar a tener.<\/p>\n

El SST es una enfermedad que puede reconocerse y tratarse efectivamente. El reconocimiento de los s\u00edntomas y tratamientos tempranos es muy importante.<\/p>\n

La siguiente es una lista de los s\u00edntomas que debes vigilar:
Fiebre alta repentina (39 grados cent\u00edgrados o m\u00e1s), v\u00f3mito, diarrea, erupci\u00f3n parecida a una quemadura de sol, mareo, dolores musculares, desmayo o sensaci\u00f3n de desmayo al ponerse de pie. Puede ser que no todos los signos est\u00e9n presentes, s\u00f3lo algunos.<\/p>\n

En etapas m\u00e1s avanzadas de la enfermedad puede presentarse descamado de la piel. El SST puede ocurrir en cualquier momento durante Ia menstruaci\u00f3n o poco tiempo despu\u00e9s de \u00e9sta. Puede avanzar r\u00e1pidamente de s\u00edntomas parecidos a los de la gripe hasta una enfermedad grave que puede ser fatal.<\/p>\n

Si tienes uno o m\u00e1s de estos s\u00edntomas, retira de inmediato el absorbente interno y consulta a tu m\u00e9dico. Informa a tu m\u00e9dico que has estado utilizando un absorbente interno (tamp\u00f3n) y que est\u00e1s preocupada por el SST. Debes hablar con tu m\u00e9dico antes de reanudar el uso de los tampones si has tenido s\u00edntomas de SST en el pasado.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Puedes reducir el riesgo usando el tamp\u00f3n con la absorbencia m\u00ednima requerida para cubrir tus necesidades y cambi\u00e1ndolo regularmente cada 4-8 horas. Tambi\u00e9n puede producirse con otros elementos de protecci\u00f3n femenina, no es exclusivo de los tampones.<\/p>\n

La mejor forma de evitar el SST es con una muy buena higiene \u00edntima, ya que las bacterias no suelen venir en el tamp\u00f3n que se produce en una ambiente higi\u00e9nico extremo con condiciones de de pureza muy altas, sino que suele estar en las partes \u00edntimas cuando no se tiene una higiene adecuada.<\/p>\n

Los productos higi\u00e9nicos que dicen absorber m\u00e1s de 8 horas y se dejan colocados por m\u00e1s tiempo, aumentan exponencialmente la posibilidad de un SST. Los tampones te dan la seguridad que tienen cientos de a\u00f1os de estudios cient\u00edficos que demuestran que son seguros si tienes una buena higiene y los cambias cada 4-8 horas.<\/p>\n
